Sometimes I play like an idiot
This past friday I started the game with quad 7's. Alright, it wasn't the first hand of the night, but it was probably the 3rd. I caught them on the turn. It was head's up though, and I didn't make a ton. I checked to my oponent on the river. She seemed faily confident, and was staring at my chips, so I thought for sure she was going to put me all in. She had been betting into me the whole hand. Yet, as you might have already guessed, she checked on the river, and I didn't get paid.
A few hands later I was in early position with AJ. I called, no one raised, and the flop was ten jack jack. I couldn't lose I figured. The small blind bet 150, I raised to 325 (I raised an odd amount just to be a d-bag, no other reason). Small blind called. Turn came a king. Board was a rainbow at this point, so no possible flushes out there. Small blind checked to me, and I went all in. I suppose I was hoping he would fold at this point, but of course if you have a straight, and you have the person covered, folding would probably be pretty stupid.
I suppose either way he was going to take me for a lot, weather I bet into him on the turn, or he bet me on the river and I called. I really need to think these decisions through a little better.

Why you gotta be like that Vista?
And another thing! I updated the installer for the poker clock which should hopefully fix some of the problems Vista users were having. If you're still having trouble with it, drop me a line and be as descriptive as possible when describing the errors! I'll get it fixed ASAP!

Building a better foundation...
I started making some changes to the overall foundation of the app this past week. Originally players were just identified by their names, so there was no way to change their names if you input them incorrectly. Now they are using numeric IDs, so you can change and delete players from the system. What does this mean to you? Not much, its all done behind the scenes, but its a more stable and extensible platform to work from now.
Also I should note, when you delete a player, they stay in the system, so that you can still report on them down the road if they have played a few games.
My next step for the poker clock will be to add an option to archive stats, thereby taking all the games you've played thus far and sticking them in a folder where they won't count towards the current stats anymore, but can be pulled out later if you want to look at historical data.
After that I plan to add a page that is shown after the game ends that allows you to edit the order/time people went out of the game, and how much people won. This is just in case you had any problems during the game, you'll be able to correct them at the end.
And then, I'm planning to implement a screen that lets you see individual game stats. It will more or less be a list of all the games in the system that have been played, and you'll be able to click on an individual game to see who went out when, and how much money/points people won. Its an easy way to settle any argument at the table over who went out before who last week!
Finally, the other thing I'm doing is hiring a designer to make the poker clock look nice! Not just nice, but f'n awesome. I'm thinking about adding some different background choices, or possibly allowing you to import your own background image so you can have whatever you want display behind the clock. Of course it would be slightly transparent so as not to take away from the clock too much, but it should be something a little nicer to look at then plain black. If you have any ideas for it, let me know!
That's it for now. Enjoy, and if you use the clock for your games, let me know how it works out!

And the changes keep coming...
I just added a new point system to the windows version of the free poker tournament manager. If you keep track of points for your regular game you can now maintain the point standings in the poker clock. There's no reporting on them yet, but that will be soon to come.
I also added an Undo option if you mistakenly knock the wrong person out of the game, and fixed a couple other small bugs.
The interface was reorganized again a little bit, but still needs some work. Keep checking back for updates as the clock is gettning enhanced pretty regularly.
As always, let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions here!

More free poker stuff!
You may have already noticed, but the free flash version of the poker clock is now available for use, here! It doesn't have nearly as many features as the version you can download, but it works in a pinch! Check it out and let me know what you think!
Also, I've made more updates to the downloadable version of the poker clock. I did some rearranging with the interface on the actual clock portion. Still not sure how I like it, take a look and let me know what you think. If you look at it you might wonder why there's so much empty space on the bottom left? Well, I'll tell you. I'm planning to integrate some sort of iTunes controls there. Possibly some XM radio controls, maybe both. Alternatively I was thinking about sticking a random YouTube video in that spot, but I'm not sure if people would appreciate that while trying to play poker.
Also, on the poker form I added the top 3 money winners, so they'll be in your face all the time! This way you'll know who to be gunning for. I was considering adding a section to list all the players and allow you to keep track of how many times each individual person rebought back into the game, but it wasn't working out really well. The down side is now you don't get to keep exact stats on that, but you're probably better off because the interface would be a nightmare if I actually did that. Anybody really care to know that?
